Ace's basement by Ted Staunton

This the sequel of Power cord:
Synopsis: Following the demise of his first band, Ace has started a duo called Two with Lisa, a girl he has a huge crush on. As Ace and Lisa get serious about their music, Denny, Ace's hapless friend, tries to help out by filming their every move so that he can create the ultimate music video. As a joke, Denny puts together a Two video capturing all of the embarrassing moments—moments that Lisa in particular doesn't want shared. Somehow, the video gets posted on YouTube. Lisa and Ace find themselves starring in the latest comedic viral video. Lisa is humiliated and refuses to talk to Ace—until their fame turns out to have positive results.

I found this book so hilarious. I think this book spoke wonders. YouTube is a huge world of humiliation. One upload and it can ruin your life. That's why you HAVE to be SUPER careful on the internet and while posting YouTube videos. Best way to do that is to NOT post at all. Better to be safe than sorry.

accidentally friends by Lisa Papademetriou

This book is part of the Candy Apple group and the 4th book of the Accidentally series:

Synopsis:
Seventh grader Amy Flowers is at it again in her fourth fish-out-of-water adventure at super-snooty Allington Academy. It's always hard to meet people at a new school, but it's even tougher at Allington because the Queen of Mean, Fiona Von Steig, rules the roost with the League, the most popular and fabulous girls in the class. Amy's already proven she can be fabulous (accidentally, of course)--but can she finally find true friends?

I actually have not read the first 3 books... But I can tell you just from reading this book. I found that this book really was easy to relate to. I know how it can be tough to make friends especially when you are "different" from everyone else. And that is a huge problem that can weight you down for years and I just thought this book really generalized that problem.

the accidental cheerleader by Mimi McCoy

This is part of the Candy Apple group:

Synopsis:
When shy Sophie's best friend, Kylie, signs them both up for cheerleading tryouts, it's Sophie who lands in the spotlight - and Kylie ends up on the sidelines. Now Kylie is stuck playing mascot, and she doesn't exactly get along with Sophie's new friends on the squad.

Things really spin out of control right before the big game, and Sophie has to choose sides. Can the girls rediscover how to root for each other before the clock runs out on their friendship?

I think this spoke a great message. I love how it was twisted around and the shy girl was the cheerleader and the cheerleader ended up the mascot. It was a very surprising and wonderful story and I loved reading it!

Allie Finkle's rules for girls: Stage fright by Meg Cabot

This is the 4th book of the Allie Finkle's rules for girls series:

Synopsis:
Room 209 is putting on a play for the Pine Heights Elementary School Spring Open House, and almost all the girls in Allie's class want the lead role, Princess Penelope...including Allie. Allie just knows her life is going to be ruined if she doesn't win the part...and it's especially going to be ruined if prissy Cheyenne gets it instead of her!
Fortunately Allie has a few tricks up her sleeve to guarantee her winning the role, including her mom's new job as film critic on the local cable show GOOD NEWS! (Mrs. Finkle is a Hollywood insider...well, practically), and Uncle Jay's secret past as a theater major (he's turned into Allie's drama coach). Both facts should help rocket Allie to instant stardom.
But what happens when Allie finds out one of her best friends, Sophie, wants the part of Princess Penelope even more than she does? And that everyone thinks Sophie would make a better princess than Allie? How can Allie stay friends with Sophie and still go after her dream?
Allie's going to need to make up a lot of rules if she's going to make it through this one!

I found this super easy to relate to. I myself get crazy stage fright. And I also have been in the situation before were I wanted to get sometime and my friend wanted it too. But, fortunately I ended up not wanting the part (it was a camp challenge that only one person could do). Anywho, I think this book really spoke to me.
I recommend this to 9-11 year old.

Allie Finkle's rules for girls: Best friends and drama gueens by Meg Cabot

Here is the 3rd book in the Allie Finkle's rules for girls:

Pine Heights Elementary School has a new student, and nobody is happier than Allie Finkle. In her mind, the arrival of Cheyenne from Canada means that she will no longer be the fourth-grade class dolt. That bright prospect fades, however, when Cheyenne suddenly becomes the dismissive standard setter for Allie's closest friend. What is a girl to do? A solid series about real-world problems

I really thought this book was great. Only thing I disliked, was.... WHY DID CHEYENNE NEED TO BE CANADIAN! Man... that upset me. But, other than that I love the drama and the girls chasing boys game. At my elementery school, some girls did play something like that, except instead of kissing the boy they tackled all the boys and took them into "jail".

I recommend this to 9-11 years of age.

Allie Finkle's rules for girls: New girl by Meg Cabot

This book is the 2nd of the Allie Finkle's rules for girls series. I oddly have not read the first book... sooooo...

Here is the synopsis for Allie Finkle's rules for girls 2: New girl:
Allie Finkle is the new girl at Pine Heights Elementary, and she's very excited. She already knows she likes her new fourth grade teacher Mrs. Hunter, and she's already friends with classmates Erica, Caroline, and Sophie. There is only one fly in the ointment of Allie's perfect new life: one of the girls in Allie's new class, Rosemary, doesn't like her. In fact, Rosemary says she's going to beat Allie up after school.
Everybody around Allie tells her their rules for dealing with bullies. But which are the right ones to follow?

I personally loved this book. I am very much against bulling and this rounds up how you can make a bully into your buddy! I recommend this to any girls age 9-11. I found it more kiddish in my opinion.

Ten rules for living with my sister by Ann M Martin

This book is not part of a series

Here is the synopsis for Ten rules for living with my sister:
Pearl’s older sister Lexie is in eighth grade and has a boyfriend. Pearl’s only boyfriend is the family’s crabby cat, Bitey.  Lexie is popular. Pearl is not, mostly because of the embarrassing Three Bad Things that happened in school and which no one has forgotten. Everything Pearl does seems to drive Lexie crazy. On top of that, their grandfather is moving into their family’s apartment and taking over Pearl’s room. How will these sisters share without driving one another crazy?

Pearl is good at making lists of rules, but sometimes, life doesn't play by the rules!

This book was so cute. I thought that this book really represented my little sister. I feel motivated to help her and support her more because of this. I recommend this to kids age 9-13. Mostly for girls but the message reaches out of boys too.

At first bite by Ruth Ames

This book is the sequel to This totally bites, I will later on do a review for that book,

Here is the synopsis for At first bite:
Ashlee Lambert, the queen bee from THIS TOTALLY BITES, has had a tough time ever since she became a full-fledged vampire. But now that she's moving from New York City to sunny Los Angeles, she's excited to make a fresh new start.

But Ashlee never counted on a clique of popular mean girls or awful sunburns. Keeping her huge secret is suddenly harder than ever. And when something -- or someone -- starts attacking people at her school, Ashlee realizes she's not the only vampire in town. It's up to Ashlee to figure out who's behind the attacks before her cover is blown forever!

I really loved this book. I found that seeing the point of view of a popular kid or a used to be popular kid was super cool. I never really thought about popular life as much so this brought me a new prospective. I would recommend this to girls ages 10-12. It isn't a big teen novel but more of a child novel

After Iris by Natasha Farrant

This is one of my all time favourite books ever!

Here is After Iris synopsis:
Blue Gadsby’s twin sister, Iris, died three years ago and her family has never been the same. Her histrionic older sister, Flora, changes her hair color daily; her younger siblings, Jasmine and Twig, are completely obsessed with their pet rats; and both of her parents spend weeks away from home–and each other. Enter Zoran the Bosnian male au pair and Joss the trouble making boy next door, and life for the Gadsby family takes a turn for the even more chaotic. Blue poignantly captures her family’s trials and tribulations from fragmented to fully dysfunctional to ultimately reunited, in a sequence of film transcripts and diary entries that will make you cry, laugh, and give thanks for the gift of families.

I loved this book! The way the Natasha  had made some of the book a diary/film transcription just drew me in. I am a fan of diary and film transcription books, so that is one of the main reasons I love the book so much. I recommend this to girls ages 10-15. it isn't a super kiddish book, but it does include so much love, sorrow, and heart ache so most teens would like it.

Amelia's guide to babysitting by Marissa Moss

This is another book from the Amelia's notebooks series

Here is the synopsis for Amelia's guide to babysitting:
"When Carly and I decided to start a babysitting business, we thought we were prepared. Then Ruthy and Tyler came along -- it was a real adventure in Extreme Babysitting!"
-- Me, Amelia

I found this book very funny. Me, being a babysitter, found that these situations she goes through and has to deal with were totally relate able! I would recommend this book to girls of ages 10-12 or anyone wanting a funny babysitting story.

Amelia's Middle school survival guide by Marissa Moss

This book is a 2 in 1 (Amelia's most unforgettable embarrassing moments and Amelia's guide to gossip) from the Amelia's notebooks series.

Here is the synopsis for Amelia's most unforgettable embarrassing moments:
"I don't know what's worse — sharing a dorm with girls I don't know or sharing one with a girl I know too well — my sister, Cleo. This school trip is a major lesson in embarrassment!"
— Me, Amelia

And here is the synopsis for Amelia's guide to gossip:
"Everything you always wanted to know about gossip -- it's the hottest rumor around!"
-- Me, Amelia

This book was not much of a novel. I would suggest it to girls between the ages of 10-12 in that stage of going to  middle school. But all in all I though it was very creative and funny to see Amelia's point of view on middle school and life. It isn't that long so it is great for just a small read.
